Episode 9. Rooting Out the Fake (11)
Short hair. And a dark-gray combat uniform.
Because of those two incongruous details, I was a beat late in recognizing Cha Si-eon’s face.
And once I recognized it, realization struck me like lightning.
That thing was 「Alpha」, the 「National Theater」’s Special Hazard Entity.
Cha Si-eon—no, 「Alpha」—charged at Baek Sa-ra.
「Alpha」 closed the distance in an instant and struck her with a turning kick.
Boom—!
Baek Sa-ra blocked with her arms, but it did no good.
She was driven backward as if she had been thrown.
Before she could fall, Baek Sa-ra caught hold of an armrest among the audience seats.
Then she pulled herself aside, evading 「Alpha」’s next attack as it hurtled toward her.
Whoosh—!
Baek Sa-ra slashed its shoulder with her knife.
But it did not even flinch.
「Alpha」 pressed her again, and Baek Sa-ra retreated while holding it at bay with her knife.
That was when it happened.
Thud—!
Another Special Entity dropped from behind the stage.
It too wore a dark-gray combat uniform.
Jet-black hair and Gwak Jae-gyeom’s utterly unsmiling face.
It was 「Delta」.
Then it, 「Delta」, charged toward Baek Sa-ra as well.
“Behind you, Baek Sa-ra!”
I shouted, but she did not look back.
