Episode 9. Rooting Out the Fake (2)
“Are you still having trouble walking?”
A kind voice, as though speaking to a small child.
“Then I’ll have to take you to kindergarten.”
Wearing a gentle expression perfectly suited to that voice, Baek Sa-ra looked down at the fox-faced man she had tripped.
The man stared blankly at Baek Sa-ra, then forced a smile.
He began getting up as though nothing had happened, only for Baek Sa-ra to hook his leg and trip him again.
Crash—!
This time, he fell forward.
The fox-faced man froze facedown on the floor.
When the silence continued, Baek Sa-ra asked the man’s companions,
“Your friend is learning to walk. Aren’t you going to help him?”
At Baek Sa-ra’s laughing words, the group hesitantly lifted the man.
Baek Sa-ra stamped the back of his knee and knocked him down again.
Thump—!
The man collapsed helplessly once more.
He had fallen on a padded mat, so it would not hurt.
But his dignity and pride had been crumpled beyond recognition, and he must have wanted to die.
Sure enough, the man’s formerly polished smile vanished as his face flushed scarlet.
Even then, however, he did not challenge Baek Sa-ra.
