After the council ended, the people who had been present poured out of the hall.
The Hero’s party and Meister were no exceptions.
“Inquisitor, are you serious? About heading north…….”
“That is the best option. You know that too, Archmage.”
“…But, Inquisitor.”
“…Münmunt’s situation has stabilized considerably. If things continue to proceed steadily like this, everything will end without the quarantine line being breached. In other words, this city no longer needs me. Going north is the correct choice.”
Since they were all leaving together, the Young Lord must have heard those words as well.
But even upon hearing that the tremendous card known as the Hero would be leaving, he merely glanced over with his usual expressionless face and said nothing in particular.
Perhaps he had concluded that there was nothing he could use to entice the Hero, and that she was unlikely to be persuaded by minor reasons, so he would simply give up.
If Meister’s guess about what he was thinking was correct, it might also be that the situation no longer required him to cling desperately to the Hero.
“If not now, we may never know when we will get another opportunity to attack the Demon King’s Castle.”
Still, as Meister listened, there was exactly one thing that bothered them.
“We must go.”
“Trying to steel yourself with that deathly expression doesn’t magically make it noble.”

The Young Lord was already leaving, but smoking in a place filled with servants still felt inappropriate.
