“Thank goodness you’re safe, Dasha.”
After sending Masain and Commander Bruno back, Seongjin spoke to her with evident relief.
“I know you’re skilled, Dasha, but with everything happening so suddenly, I was worried that you might have gotten caught up with the demonic tree alongside the trade guild.”
His concern was genuine. One of the first questions he had asked the Holy Emperor in the Embersoul Realm was about her well-being.
Dasha, who had been diligently copying documents, looked up at him with raised eyebrows.
“Thank you, Your Highness. But you must have firmly believed that I would make it back safely to handle all of this. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have acted so recklessly.”
Uh-oh.
“How on earth did you think of stealing documents from the Marquis of Zigmunt’s estate? Their security isn’t that easy to bypass.”
Well, I’d suddenly felt the urgency, and compared to the Imperial Palace, their security felt pretty lax.
The guards patrolled at fixed intervals without fail, and the doors, safes, and locks—all of them were outdated.
When he explained, Dasha made a face as if she had just bitten into something bitter and sighed into the air.
“Good grief! I’ve dug my own grave. Who am I supposed to blame for this?”
It made sense.
At the very least, she was the one who had taught him the finer points of lockpicking here.
