An unshakable sense of unease lingered with Amelia today.
As she felt her hands trembling while turning the pages of her book, Amelia eventually closed it altogether, sinking deeply into her armchair with her eyes shut. Instinctively, her fingers reached for the small wooden figurine resting on the table.
‘I should have told Mores to return immediately. Or, better yet, I should have sent more reinforcements…’
But all of it was just wishful thinking.
A prince of the Holy Empire abandoning a fief in peril? Even if he were young, how would their subjects view a prince who couldn’t stand by them in a crisis?
Sending additional reinforcements was no solution, either. No matter how much she strategized, the elite troops of the Lilium Corps remained the best answer.

Amelia let out a soft sigh.
Logically, she knew she’d made the right decision. But that didn’t make it easier on her heart.
To think that Mores, that child, was now in the midst of those dangerous beasts!
At times like this, Amelia found herself frustrated with her position as the eldest daughter of the Holy Emperor. If she’d held even a position like Herna’s, she could have implored her father to send the entire order of holy knights.
