The ice fortress had fallen!
A heavy silence descended upon the group as they absorbed the news.
“They say the attacking glacier trolls displayed unusual abilities. It was as if they merged with the ice wall itself and disappeared. The defenders had no choice but to abandon the wall.”
“How could this happen…?”
The ice fortress had never once fallen to any beast or force since its completion by the previous border lord over many long years.
Though they had anticipated such an attack, the shock that Orden felt was indescribable. After all, that towering wall had stood firm since before he was even born.
“And with the fortress breached, are the troops managing to retreat safely?”
Seeing Orden still frozen in shock, Isungjin kept his composure and directed the question to the guard captain.
“Fortunately, the lord ordered the second wall widened last night, so the retreat is proceeding smoothly, albeit slowly. However…”
Sir Sebastian’s gaze shifted toward a group of soldiers moving swiftly with tools like pickaxes, hammers, and chisels in hand. It was obvious they were working urgently.
“Unfortunately, the first wall was still undergoing expansion, so the troops stationed there are effectively trapped. They’re working from both ends to widen the entrance, but progress is slow.”
