Sungjin steadied himself in the snow, adjusting his body temperature with aura as he wobbled to his feet. Lying on his back while facing down the wolf had been more than a little uncomfortable.
Fortunately, while Sungjin had been in a vulnerable position, the wolf had stepped back and was now calmly seated a short distance away, showing no signs of aggression for the moment. Sungjin interpreted this as a sign that the creature wasn’t planning to attack immediately.
Keeping one eye on the wolf, Sungjin brushed the snow off his cloak, his mind racing with questions for the Demon King.
What the hell is that thing? And why is a wolf talking?
[It’s not actually talking, it’s sending out a strong thought projection,] the Demon King replied.
Yeah, okay, whatever. But is this thing a monster of the Demon Wilderness, or maybe… a demon itself?
[Hmm, hard to say. I don’t detect any demonic energy from it, though…]
It seemed even the Demon King wasn’t quite sure. That left only one option: directly asking the creature.
“Well, then, a talking wolf. Should I say it’s a pleasure to meet you? Let’s at least introduce ourselves.”
Once Sungjin had straightened himself out, he addressed the wolf.
