“…A walk?”
Masain’s question was met with a nod from Sungjin.
“Yes, a walk. I just want to go up there for a bit.”
Sungjin had decided not to provoke the already anxious knight any further. No matter where he wanted to go, it was best to let Masain know first and to keep him close by. If Sungjin tried sneaking away one more time, Masain would probably keep a constant, sleepless watch over him. Besides, Sungjin was still far from earning the “trust” needed to outsmart the watchful eyes of a senior knight.
“I just want to see the snow-covered scenery up close. It’s been stifling, cooped up in the carriage these past few days.”
Masain’s eyebrows shot up, as if he was wondering, What kind of trick is this now?

“Couldn’t you just keep watch over me?”
“It’s just… I haven’t had much experience dealing with monsters, so I’m not sure what unexpected situations might arise…”
