A dream.
Another dream.
The wasteland was vast.
So vast that no matter how long one walked, its end remained unseen.
There had once been mountains covered in greenery upon this barren land, but they had long since burned away, leaving only blackened rock.
Nothing remained in the desert.
Only sand, dry wind, the cold of midnight, the moon, and the stars.
I thought I could understand why poets of old had compared life to a wasteland.
You could walk and walk without end, yet when you looked back, there were no footprints to be seen.
And ‘nature’ itself was filled with unwelcome neighbors.
How lonely it was.
Perhaps being able to walk through such a place with only one other person was a blessing.
Thinking that, the man quietly watched the back of the girl walking ahead of him.
We seem to be going unusually far today.
There was no concern about getting lost.
There were not even enough landmarks here for the place to deserve being called ‘terrain,’ but the man’s senses were exceptionally keen.
If he wished, he could thoroughly examine every detail of the surrounding environment.
Besides, was the woman whose hair resembled the night sky not the ‘Dragon King’?
There was no chance she…
