Blade and lightning danced.
It was an utterly overwhelming spectacle. The net of light and heat covering the entire world even possessed an artistic quality, enough to stop the breath of everyone present for a moment.
What could possibly stand against it?
The shadows were torn to shreds along the paths of the blades. Lightning burned the fragmented pieces until not even a trace remained. No more than an instant was needed to clear the entire area.
It was an outcome so clear that their desperate effort to buy time felt futile.
Smoke rose from scattered points across the melted ground, proof that it had failed to withstand the lightning’s voltage. Incongruously, the woman who cast magic of such tremendous power possessed a tiny frame.
Though she hardly appeared unscathed.
“……Cough!”
The girl vomited a small handful of blood.
Even a child could have guessed her thoughts by looking at her expression. She appeared visibly flustered, as though she had not anticipated this side effect.
Moreover, she raised her voice as though the situation were terribly unfair.
“What is this……? Manipulating Mana feels far more unnatural than I imagined!”
“It must be the Barrier’s effect.”
Pat, pat.
A well-built man spoke as he patted the pointed-hat woman’s back.
“Did you not hear as well, Senior? Unless one possesses ‘dragon blood,’ manipulating Mana becomes difficult here…… Though I did not expect it would cause internal injuries.”
