The golden pupils resembled a vast desert.
No trace of emotion could be found in them. Only endless sand stretched onward with a dry rustle. How much pain had the man endured before his eyes became like this?
The question was meaningless.
Because I was the one who understood his suffering best. I simply had not expected to meet the man from the future at this moment, and for an instant, I lost my words.
The silence did not last long.
“It wasn’t bad enough to justify all your irritation.”
It was my answer to the man’s question.
What had I thought of teaching a brat who knew nothing? It had not been especially difficult. But even after hearing my answer, the man’s opinion did not appear to change.
He snorted and turned away.
I naturally sat beside the man as he folded his arms. Before I knew it, the unconscious realm had expanded into the distance, enough to resemble a salt desert beneath falling stars.
“……What a sight.”
For a while, no reply came to my quiet reflection.
