BOOOOM—!
At the very instant the girl was about to pull the trigger, the sky in the distance shattered. Falling beneath it was a gigantic wolf—and a brilliant crimson flame piercing straight through it.
Ah, found it. The brightest star.
The girl changed the direction of the taser gun. Bang! The cartridge spat its metal probes toward the ground. Bzzzzzt! Because it had not been properly charged, the resulting electric shock was somewhat weaker than it should have been.
“Kh…!”
And that, in turn, saved the girl’s life.
Electrocution.
It was a drawback of firing a taser gun at close range that the girl had failed to anticipate. The weakened output was her one stroke of incredible luck.
“……!”
Though perhaps surviving came at a price.
The girl also failed to escape in a single attempt. Crack. A fissure did indeed appear in the seemingly empty floor, but that was as far as it went.
The floor did not break apart, and so the girl was unable to leave the trial.
Her burned arms and legs trembling, the girl clenched her teeth. Then, suddenly, her relatively uninjured right arm rose.
Thud!
“Break!”
Thud!
“I said break!”
Again and again, again and again, the girl struck the cracked floor.
Even then the black fog was drawing closer to her, but she ignored it completely. The burned, ulcerated flesh softened further under the impact, but she paid no attention to that either. Drops of blood fell steadily from her bitten lips.
“Not yet!”
