Yet the Adventurer, who had seemed to have finished saying everything, strangely hesitated and was reluctant to turn away.
It might have been rude to the Adventurer to think this, but he looked almost like a young boy hesitating before confessing his feelings.
“Inquisitor, when this battle is over… what do you want to do?”
“Me…?”
After the battle?
What did she want to do?
The Inquisitor hesitated for a moment at a question she had never once considered before. It was so unexpected, and the idea itself so unfamiliar, that no answer readily came to mind.
“Yes. Isarncol, the same goes for you. Is there something you want to do?”
“I… um, I want to stay with the Great Warrior.”
“That is good as well. But what I am asking about is something more specific.”
What sort of work did they want to do?
What profession did they want to have?
At the Adventurer’s more detailed examples, the two began to ponder.
Even though the question sounded perfectly simple at first, they struggled all the same.
The things that came to mind were far too faint and vague for either of them to give one clear, definite answer.
“I… don’t really know.”
In the end, the Inquisitor admitted it.
She was someone who had absolutely no idea how she was supposed to live once the fighting ended.
“I see.”
“What about you, Adventurer?”
Then what answer did…
