“So what was it you wanted to say separately?”
“Ah, that was…….”
I glanced in turn at Archmage, Purple Snake, and the Fairy Archmage before hesitantly opening my mouth.
“The end is almost here, isn’t it? Before that… I wanted to say goodbye properly.”
We could talk at the banquet, of course, but having any kind of deep conversation amid all that noise would probably be difficult. There would be too many ears around, too, so I’d inevitably have to be careful whenever anything personal came up.
“The three of you have really… helped me so much that words can’t even describe it.”
That was why I was saying it in advance like this.
Wanting to avoid their gazes, I sidestepped out from where I’d been hiding ridiculously behind Archmage. Sway. The thick fur cloak shifted heavily with my sideways step.
“Hey, what do you mean, ‘the end’? I didn’t know you were this pessimistic, kid.”
“If my suggestion that you become my disciple made you that uncomfortable, I apologize. So please, do not speak that way. Words have a way of becoming reality.”
“……? Ah.”
I gave an awkward smile at the two Archmages, who had fallen into exactly the same misunderstanding Windhand had.
“I didn’t mean that kind of end. Um. No.”
Why would I die?
I’m not dying.
This body might die, but anyway, I’m not dying.
“…Listen to the way he suddenly changed how he talks. And you expect us to believe that’s not what you meant?”
“Hmm…….”
No, the way I spoke…
