Satan opened the battle.
Tiny, dot-like masses of Demonic Energy were hurled straight down at the Inquisitor and me, leaving us no room to mount any proper counterattack—or rather, stealing the first move before we could.
In the end, the two of us gave up on attacking and responded in our own ways. I moved my body, while the Inquisitor stayed where she was and raised her shield.
The distance we had barely managed to close opened up again in an instant.
“Inquisitor!!”
I called out to the Inquisitor as I ran in a circle around Satan. At the same time, I raised my sword with one hand and lightly coated it in Mana.
Since I still didn’t know how strong Satan was, I was reluctant to throw out anything too big right from the start. Besides, I hadn’t taken a potion or medicinal pill, so my Mana reserves weren’t exactly overflowing either.
For reference, I planned to wait a little longer before using the five liquid potions and two medicinal pills left in my possession. There weren’t many remaining, so I figured it would be more efficient to save them for a truly desperate situation or a decisive moment.
“Haap!”
While I fired off slash after slash to keep Satan occupied, the Inquisitor heard my voice and charged forward recklessly.
I hadn’t given her any specific instructions, yet she seemed to have roughly understood what I intended.
