Just as I had nearly caught my breath, a violent wave burst out from Mephistopheles's body. It was as though a massive lump of powerful yet sinister Demonic Energy had been vomited out.

The Demonic Energy immediately took on a form.
It was an unstable, fluid shape, as though someone had forcibly bound together colored gas that wanted to scatter in every direction.

The moment that Demonic Energy stepped toward us, a trap that had been secretly carved into the ground detonated.
Every last one had been personally prepared by Commandment for Satan.
Bang, boom, bang!
With the body gone, physical attacks were useless.
So Commandment had laid nothing but attacks focused entirely on the elements.
Lightning, flame, ice.
Every one of them was effective against something without a fixed form.

The problem was just how many traps she'd prepared.
I watched in admiration as Satan got hit here and flung away, only to get struck again over there, knocked away once more, and then hit yet again.
So that's what she'd been doing, wandering around everywhere while I was curled up groaning.
She'd really gritted her teeth and prepared the entire battlefield.
Well, knowing the boss was about to pop out and doing absolutely nothing would have been the stupid thing to do.
