‘How are we going to obtain the Demonic Energy?’
[You've got something on hand, don't you? Offer that.]
‘…Commandment told me not to make deals with old magic.’
[Ha. Don't worry. I'll bear everything from beginning to end this time.]
Still, Commandment had seemed to think even indirect involvement was dangerous…
I worried about it briefly before quickly realizing that even that kind of concern was a luxury right now.
My body leapt clear of the ground, which rippled from a single kick by Satan.
‘Fine. Then let's draft a proper contract.’
[…You're disgustingly thorough! Do we really have to do this in a situation like this?]
‘What happened right before I got here is still a little too fresh in my mind.’
If not for that, I probably wouldn't have scrutinized things this obsessively.
I mean, maybe something that would normally take twenty seconds would've taken seventeen instead.
Considering the level of trust between us, though, simply skipping it had never been an option.
[You seem to have much on your mind!]
Clang!
[You shall never finish those thoughts!]
Seriously, what a pain in the ass.
Watching chunks of earth scatter through the air, I blocked the sword Satan had thrust toward me.
Maybe because Satan and I were both fire-aligned, flames spread in every direction along with the clash.
In Satan's case, uncontrolled power was simply overflowing. In mine, it felt more as though I was deliberately letting power spill out in order to keep Satan's flames…
