Meanwhile, Sisley, who had remained behind on the reef island, was sweating profusely for Lord Manta’s sake.
“You look exhausted. Why not rest for a little while, kid?”
Unable to keep watching in silence, Mitra made the suggestion.
He had remained seated beside Sisley throughout her treatment of Lord Manta, doing nothing but tipping his bottle of liquor back. He still looked sorrowful, but judging by how much calmer his expression had become, it seemed he had managed to sort out his thoughts to some extent.
“I’m not that tired, Mitra. I’m fine.”
“I only say that because this fellow no longer seems to be in much pain. Even if you squeeze out your Divine Power like that, it probably won’t mean much at this point. There isn’t much time left anyway.”
“Because there isn’t much time left, I want even more to do everything I possibly can while I still can.”
That was right. There was not much time left even for such small efforts anymore. Sisley had been gripped by a powerful premonition of that fact for some time now, and though she was exhausted, she could not bring herself to let go of Lord Manta easily.
Mitra looked at the girl with somewhat complicated eyes.
