My body was a wreck.
It was a mass of flesh torn apart and stitched back together countless times. Most aftereffects had vanished after I became a ‘Master,’ but the unconscious realm appeared to be an exception to that law.
For the first time in ages, I was keenly aware of the difficulty of moving.
No, the issue could not be limited to this world. Even if I escaped, the condition of my body would likely be little different. These were injuries inflicted by humanity’s nemesis.
And so I was confused.
Because the back embedded in my blurred vision was far too familiar.

I could not understand why the man from the future suddenly came to mind. In speech and atmosphere alike, this man was so different they might have been complete opposites.
