Either way, there was no question that the person before me stood on the brink of death.
Unless she immediately confessed everything.
But instinctively, I realized something.
The process of extracting meaningful information from her was going to be arduous.
Just look at that face.
Without so much as a tremor, the shell impersonating my adjutant smiled.
“You’re surprisingly perceptive, Ironblood Duke.”
There was still bewilderment in her eyes.
An emotion mixed with confusion and a faint trace of fear. The cold sweat already beginning to gather on her forehead made that obvious enough.
And yet her smile remained strangely composed.
That was why the furrow between my brows deepened along with my suspicion.

At the very least, this was no ordinary being.
Even if Delphirem had prevented me from paying attention to my surroundings, this was still someone capable of infiltrating this place without my notice. On top of that, even restrained, she had managed to inflict a wound on one of the Seven Deadly Sins that refused to heal.
This prison was also one of the most heavily guarded places around.
Meaning the unconscious guards at the entrance were far from the entirety of its security.
To reach this point, the intruder would have needed to break through layers upon layers of surveillance and defenses.
