The fleet sailed for two full days before arriving at the Port of Rhodes.
“So this is Rhodes…….”
Sisley leaned against the ship’s railing and took in the exotic sight of the harbor.
With the sudden appearance of such a large fleet, the docks were currently in an uproar, everyone rushing about in confusion. Merchant ships hurried to load their cargo, while fishermen frantically hauled in their nets and moved their fishing boats out of the way.
The Port of Rhodes was not particularly small even compared to the Port of Cyprus. The island lay so far from the mainland that, simply for the sake of survival, the development of its harbor had been essential.
Even so, it was nowhere near enough to accommodate the dozens of sailing ships that had appeared without warning. In the end, as a desperate measure, small boats were busily moving back and forth, ferrying water and sailors.
The subjugation force, aside from a portion of the sailors needed while the ships were anchored, had not been permitted to disembark. They had already filled their holds to the brim with most of the necessary supplies back in Helios. After taking on only a little drinking water and food in Rhodes, the fleet planned to depart immediately for the Kravat Archipelago.
‘If we’d arrived during the day, I could have gotten a better look at the harbor…….’
Feeling a little disappointed, Sisley brushed back her fluttering silver hair.
