He possessed the neat, handsome appearance of the former kings, a robust physique that stood in stark contrast to the First Prince’s, and on top of that, a deadly—quite literally—charisma that rendered those around him utterly helpless.
For that reason, influential figures in Rohan had long since marked him as the material of a future king.
But contrary to that public perception, several obstacles stood in Leonard’s path to being named Crown Prince.
First and foremost, the greatest problem was that the frail First Prince, Lucas, monopolized the current monarch’s affection.

Another problem was that several high-ranking nobles firmly supported the First Prince.
After enduring the Verdia royal family’s bloodbaths every few generations for such a long time, it was only natural that by now some of them would prefer to place a gentle king on the throne rather than another powerful tyrant.
Lastly, one of Leonard’s secret safe houses had recently been discovered by civilians.
