When a Gate forms, small side Gates open near the Rift where the main monsters appear; they lump them together and call them that.
They’re organically linked, so if you close the main Rift they vanish along with it—but the headaches are another matter.
True to the name “scout,” they either show up before the main Gate, or they pop out unexpectedly in places you didn’t foresee, making damage hard to predict.
