“This is the last case for you to review, Sir Masain.”
At Jibril’s words, Masain let out a sigh of relief. The paperwork, which had seemed like it would never end, was finally reaching its conclusion.
While receiving the last document from her, Masain unconsciously looked around.
‘By the way, now that it’s just the two of us, somehow this place feels strangely empty.’
It was funny to feel that the not-so-spacious office was desolate. But wasn’t it usually a space bustling with Prince Morres, Sir Valerie, Sir Sharon, and even Prince Logan?
Having been momentarily lost in strange thoughts, Masain soon shook them off and squeezed out his last bit of concentration.
“…Looking at the contents, it seems it was simply a case of fever spreading. The initial symptoms are distinctly different from the Gray Plague.”
“Exactly, right? If you just confirm it, I’ll send that case back immediately.”
To Jibril’s compliant response, Masain asked something he had been curious about for a while.
“Doctor Jibril, for such clear cases, wouldn’t it be better if the Lyora Plague Society filtered them first? Why do all of these come up to the Monster Task Force without distinction?”
“Well? For now, there was an order from Prince Morres to bring all reports of suspicious cases.”
The Monster Task Force was originally established to investigate the Gray Plague. Therefore, the plague doctors of the Lyora School spread across the continent still diligently send reports of suspected Gray Plague cases to the imperial palace.
Then, the Monster Task Force collects all of them and separately picks out the parts that seem to need investigation…
