My vision is blurry. A world of black upon black comes into view.
There, I opened my bleary eyes.
The world is ash. Foul smoke fills every direction, and the traces of what burned sting the tip of my nose.
Dazed, I stand in that world and look wearily at the scene.
What remains? Here… what is there trying to remain?
‘Ah.’
I swallow down a sound from a voice that won’t come out. What is it this time?
‘I’m not even surprised anymore.’
I’ve gone through so much that things like this don’t even register.
‘What now.’
What is it this time? With that question, I pushed my back up.
I can’t see anything. Not a world of pure white, but its opposite. The reek of char is so harsh I want to cover my nose.
‘Mm…’
I look around. With nothing to see and wondering what to do—
‘Ah.’
In the distance. Not seen, but felt.
The moment my eyes widened at an unknowable presence—
Fwoooosh—!!
A beam of light…
