A light lanced out so fiercely it made me reel. It was hard to keep my eyes open.
Why is it flaring like this? Is it thrashing in desperation?
‘Hey, take it down a notch.’
If it already sucked up all it could, it should stop. This is pointless.
It didn’t seem to be causing any particular harm, so I only frowned.
After the light kept pouring out like that for a while—

The light began to change. It wasn’t dimming or intensifying; only the color itself was changing.
From red to blue.
