“….”
Tesilid didn’t answer.
He intended to avoid showing any reaction that might reveal a clue, but he failed.
That, in itself, was uncharacteristic of the 17th-cycle version of himself.
Reed, who remembered the 17th cycle well, concluded with certainty.
“Ha, so you’ve been putting on a show in front of Ailet Rodelline this whole time.”
“….”
At the mention of her name, Tesilid showed a slight tremor, as though a weakness had been exposed.
Reed’s crimson eyes gleamed with a chilling intensity as he took in Tesilid’s reaction.
“Interesting. Which cycle is this for you?”
After a moment, Tesilid’s tightly shut lips parted.
“You’ll be surprised.”
“Go on. Surprise me.”
“…”
The last time they had faced each other was in Anaxia’s dungeon.
Back then, Reed, out of a twisted sense of pity, had attempted to “save” the foolishness of the 17th-cycle Tesilid with an act of self-loathing mercy.
After all, they were essentially the same person.
There was no rule that said the 117th-cycle Tesilid couldn’t feel a similar pity for the 100th-cycle Tesilid.
