Do you know how much anger was buried in that forest?
One day.
A child suffered from an empty stomach.
‘There’s nothing to eat here.’
No matter where the child looked, there were only weeds. Their color was so black that they did not appear edible at all. They smelled strange, too. Even the soil in which they had taken root was murky in color.
The clever child did everything possible to endure the hunger. Eating something like that simply because of an empty stomach would quickly make the child sick. There was neither medicine nor anyone to provide care, and the child did not want that.
But endurance had its limits.
“…Ugh….”
Just one sip of water.
‘Wouldn’t it be all right if I drank only once?’
The child would drink a little at a time so as not to become ill. It would surely taste horrible, but without even a sip of this stagnant black water, death seemed imminent. The child did not want to die.
Moving soundlessly, the child reached a small puddle and stretched out a trembling hand. Hiss─ A sound that normal water would never make rose from the fingers touching it. But there was no pain.
‘It’ll be all right.’
What could be more frightening than dying right now?
‘I only need to wet my throat. That’s all…!’
Gulp.
“…! U-Ugh…!!”
