After an hour of walking, Reed and I came to a stop.
“Finally, we’ve arrived! …Well, sort of.”
<It’s just a lake, though?>
It seemed the water hadn’t drained because it was a low-lying area. In places like this, it was obvious what to expect. Our treasure ship would be lying at the bottom of this lake.
It probably didn’t connect to the deep sea, but it looked quite deep. We’d likely have to dive for a while to reach it.
I glanced at the all-powerful mage beside me, silently pleading for help. Reed stretched his lips into a wide grin and asked,
“Do you need a breathing spell?”
“Yes. Cast it for me.”
“Shall I do it like a mermaid?”
By that, he meant…
-Come here. I’ll cast the breathing spell on your lips.
[‘The Scales that Judge Souls’ is extremely excited.]
His face and voice were so nonchalant that, at first, I didn’t realize he was making a move.
