At Yoo Seongwoon’s question, Gio nodded from within the Portrait.
“Yes, they were.”
“I knew it. You weren’t remotely ordinary even back then.”
“My students were not the Symbols of Eternity before the Great Cataclysm.”
“I don’t know if I should say this, but….”
“Go ahead.”
“They say birds of a feather flock together.”
“That is enough.”
“Even if you hadn’t become a Portrait, you would definitely have made a name for yourself.”
During yet another of their customary corridor meetings, Yoo Seongwoon smiled with his usual equanimity.
“Let me guess. Even back then, you were the only person who thought you were ordinary. The Great Cataclysm was merely the catalyst. Maybe you ended up as a Portrait because you were already an extraordinary being in your own right.”
“Would you please refrain from insulting the Portrait?”
“I have no idea which part of that you found insulting, but all right.”
He did not wish to see the Eye of the Source angry. It would probably stop at merely imitating anger rather than becoming genuinely enraged, but even that would plainly be too much for humans to bear.
“Still, it truly is an astonishing story. You mean when the Symbols of Eternity were high school students, right? You said you were an art teacher at a high school. The Symbols of Eternity back then….”
