After the meal, Juhyeon was given the opportunity to speak with Sancalute.
“…Something smells delicious….”
“…Do Evil Gods feel hunger too?”
Sancalute had been summoned while possessing the body of a Waterfowl. The living water, which should have possessed neither color nor vocal cords, had somehow turned a rapturous red. Fortunately, Juhyeon, protected by Gio’s favor, was not affected.
Trapped in that tiny body, Sancalute was dejected.
“I want to go home.”
“Uh….”
At the unexpected response, Juhyeon looked back at Gio.
“Please help me.”
“Ah, may I join you?”
“I feel as though… our conversation isn’t going very well.”
“Then it is time for me to step in.”
For reference, Yoo Seongwoon had fallen asleep in the second-floor guest room while clutching the Golden-Step Sheep fur blanket and Basram flower tea Gio had pressed into his hands. Filled with the satisfaction of having pleased his friend, Gio proudly sat down between Juhyeon and Sancalute.
The situation had begun to resemble a miniature courtroom, and Sancalute looked ready to cry. The Waterfowl had no face capable of displaying an expression, but Divinities communicated through their souls rather than their outward forms.
“You clearly called me here to scold me.”
“I apologize, but I am only here to facilitate smooth communication.”
“You scolded me last time too.”
“You deserved to be scolded then.”
“I thought and thought before choosing that body so I wouldn’t steal anything from the grown-ups….”
“I believe I told you last time that wasn’t the problem.”
“You only say difficult things.”
At the manner of speech, indistinguishable from that of a petulant child, Juhyeon looked back at Gio once more.
“It’s somehow… younger than I expected.”
“Because it has attuned itself to the soul of the Waterfowl lending it a body.”
“Ah, the Waterfowl’s soul?”
