It was an unbelievable combination of words.
The mayor of Mournveil was dead.
And I had supposedly killed him!
The accusation was so absurd that I could not even feel wronged.
As I stood there with my mouth hanging open, Dominic’s voice reached me.
“Mr. Gunbam….”
He stared at me in surprise. For some reason, it felt as though I could hear a voice in his gaze.
When you said we would persuade the mayor, did you mean by murdering him?
‘It wasn’t me, Mr. Dominic!’
Belatedly, I looked at him with every ounce of my injustice and sorrow.

There was nothing to consider.
I immediately selected the first option.
Running away now would not make the murder accusation disappear.
If I did not want to spend my entire time in Mournveil being pursued, I needed to submit first and clear myself afterward.
Asking Dominic for help would have been no different from selecting the escape option.
I could ask him later to verify my movements over the past several days during the interrogation, but not now.
I allowed myself to be arrested without resistance.
