‘What did I do wrong?’
He could not understand how the conversation had possibly taken this turn.
‘Weren’t we talking about what was happening in the world just a moment ago?’
He had been feeling burdened by the fact that he had become famous without his own permission, and now this bolt from the blue struck him.
Suddenly confronted with the philosophical question “Who am I?” Gio fell into an untimely bout of self-reflection. Even though Gio lived without thinking about much of anything, he could at least tell that the question just asked had been quite serious.
‘But that only makes it even harder to understand.’
It was as though his parents had sat across from their child and lamented, “Son, how are we supposed to treat you?” But Yoo Seongwoon was not Gio’s parent. Gio was a grown man who had once had a job and then lost it.
‘Why? Why me? Why am I suddenly receiving career counseling?’
He had no idea at what point Yoo Seongwoon had grown so serious.
