Flap—!
A pure-white hand burst out of the egg. My eyes went wide as lanterns.
“…A hand?”
A hand.
A real hand.
Not the hand of a monster or some other demon beast, but a human hand—so white it was almost bloodless, slender to the point of pallor.
And not just slender—wasted. A hand so thin and frail you could almost see the bones.
Crackle.
Slowly, the hand drew free of the egg. Then an arm, and a head popped out.
The rest of the shell shattered in an instant. With the fragments falling away, something collapsed onto the floor.
It had a human form.
An emaciated naked body, hair tangled in black strands.
Judging by age—roughly under ten.
More than five, less than ten—that sort of range.
The problem was—
‘The Heavenly Demon.’
The identity of the human shape that emerged—that was the problem.
‘…It’s the Heavenly Demon.’
However thin and frail, that was someone I knew all too well.
The Heavenly Demon.
