“Can a Saint be created that way as well?”

At the man’s blunt remark, Yoo Seongwoon—seated against a Gallery wall—gave a snort of laughter.

“I can’t be certain.”

“But as you said, he is following the precise sequence by which one becomes a Saint.”

“In this case, the object of divinity is showing consideration for the human from the outset. It resembles the case of the God of Death.”

Saints were people capable of bearing the divinity they served as a friend or family member even without any consideration from that god. Juhyeon, who was receiving Gio’s consideration in abundance and thus maintaining his human life unharmed, could not be called the same as them.

“I merely meant that the possibility exists.”

There were plenty of cases in which ordinary humans had ultimately become Saints by virtue of nothing more than the breadth of their own vessels.

“Seeing that vast Mystery as a single young man is already inconceivable for an ordinary human. The fact that Mr. Juhyeon can do so amounts to proving one of his qualifications.”

“And if he proves those qualifications one by one, he may eventually become a Saint. That is precisely how the Moon Church has been able to create Saints artificially all this time.”

“Even so, there is no telling what kind of Saint Mr. Juhyeon would become. More importantly, the odds are greater that he will fail to become one, whether because Gio does not want it or because Mr. Juhyeon lacks sufficient aptitude.”

In other words.

“Mr. Juhyeon has merely climbed one step.”

If there were a staircase leading from an ordinary person to a Saint, Juhyeon had climbed only its first step. And until he reached the destination, he would remain an ordinary human no matter how many steps he ascended along the way.

“So I don’t think you need to worry quite so much, Senior. For now, it remains entirely hypothetical.”

“It is not my place to worry. But did you explain that part properly to the man himself?”

“I thought he might seize me by the collar if I didn’t, so I laid everything bare before I left. His face is mild, but he has quite the temper underneath it. He’s a surprisingly frightening man—resolute, too.”

“An ordinary human does not pity a vast Mystery. Though a ‘human who only appears ordinary’ might.”

The man clicked his tongue.

“You would do well to tell him to be careful.”

“I did tell him, but….”

“True. If words alone could settle such matters, none of the tragedies in this world would exist.”

“He seemed to be trying to restrain himself, but who knows?”
