The place where thousands of years of Heavenly Sword Mountain’s history had been condensed still displayed its magnificent grandeur. The sheer cliffs and the sword scars engraved all across them hinted at the lives of master swordsmen who had once dominated an era.
Even the tiny scratches that were difficult to distinguish.
The ‘Heavenly Sword Rock (天劍巖)’ forming the mountain summit was practically a trial in and of itself.
Not only did it disperse Mana, but the stone itself was so incredibly hard that its durability was difficult to believe. There could only be a handful of swordsmen capable of leaving even a scratch upon those cliffs.
That was why every swordsman had no choice but to show respect before this majestic spectacle.
Hadn’t I, too, been overwhelmed by emotion several times before?
But not today.
The emotions surging in my chest right now were far removed from anything like ‘respect’ or ‘awe.’
If anything, they were closer to ‘bewilderment,’ ‘anger,’ or perhaps ‘doubt.’
The most fundamental of questions slipped from between my lips.
“Why are you here?”
It was an obvious question.
Chaos had already broken out below the mountain long ago. Countless practitioners had been sacrificed, and fierce battles were probably still raging at both the mountainside and the entrance.
