Within the darkness, the oval portal glowing in countless colors pulsed like the heart of the cavern.
Prince Morres approached that light with an air of urgency.
“The passage won’t remain open for very long. So return to where you came from before it’s too late. And remember carefully what I’m about to tell you.”
Leandro walked toward the portal after the prince.
Quite apart from his doubts about the prince’s identity and intentions, he instinctively understood that he had no other option but to use this portal.
Having lived for several hundred years, Leandro was not completely ignorant of the laws of the Quartz Image World.
He knew perfectly well that passages of this sort were relatively common within the Quartz Image World.
Of course, he could not entirely rule out the possibility that this, too, was some trap devised by Prince Morres.
But what reason would the prince have to go to all this trouble merely to send Leandro flying off somewhere completely unrelated?
Whether he intended to coax him over to his side or deceive him with false information about the future, none of it would be possible until Leandro had first been returned to his original location.
“Now then, once you return, the very first thing you need to do is—”
