Of course, that suspicion did not last long. As time passed, there were clear differences that Leandro gradually came to recognize. Before long, he became able to distinctly tell apart the [Signals] sent by the Holy Emperor and the [Omens] he had encountered before.
First, the Holy Emperor’s signals mostly came in the form of sound. It was likely a direct reflection of his ability to freely manipulate not only the flow of the surrounding air, but even the sounds carried through it whenever he wished.
Thanks to that, Leandro would sometimes hear sounds conveyed to him without any apparent context while walking along a road. For example, all the surrounding noise might suddenly die away, while only the chirping of a tiny bird somewhere out of sight would be amplified and carried to his ears.
When there was nothing nearby that could be amplified, the air itself would sometimes vibrate in empty space and produce a faint melody.
